About Class

This workshop is for the intermediate weaver who wishes to try their hand at making Rag Rugs. We will discuss the variety of materials recommended for warp. As an added new twist to the Rag Rug class offered in the past, Sara will be taking everyone on a field trip to our local fabric store to discuss buying options, things to consider and for an opportunity to purchase fabric for your project. When we return to the studio, we'll look at how to prepare fabric, including washing and cutting your weft strips or what to use if you are purchasing pre-cut strips or other materials. Each student will be assigned a pre-warped loom to weave their rugs. The warps are arranged in an attractive pattern that will teach you about Log Cabin patterning, Color & Weave theory and arranging stripes for a color graduation all in the same warp. Class will wrap up as we discuss finishing techniques unique to Rag Rugs.

Warp materials included in cost of tuition, but students will need to purchase weft materials for their project.
