Yes, it's possible to spin cotton & enjoy it too!

Spinning cotton yarn can be enjoyable once you have learned the tips and tricks. In this workshop you will learn how to master a long draw, an essential technique in spinning cotton. Students will examine many varieties of cotton in both staple length and color. Students will will learn how to properly prepare these short stapled fibers from picking to carding. In addition we will explore specialty wheels such as the great wheel and charka and how they differ from our commonly used spinning wheels. You will learn how to adjust and set up your spinning wheel to facilitate spinning cotton, double drive and Scotch tension wheels work best.

All materials are included with your tuition. Bring your wheel for a day of fun and learning, or request to borrow one of our studio wheels.
