About class
Date: August 4-7, 2026
Time: 9am- 4pm
Join your fellow weaving enthusiasts for an exciting and intensive round-robin style class dedicated to unlocking the complexity and beauty of twill weave structures. Over the course of the session, you will explore a wide spectrum of twill variations, moving far beyond the basic 2/2 structure. We will delve into fancy twills, undulating twills that create rhythmic, wave-like patterns, and other complex broken and pointed variations on both 4 and 8 harnesses. This round-robin format means you will rotate through multiple looms set up with different complex twill drafts, giving you hands-on experience with diverse threading and tie-up configurations.
Each loom will be warped with enough material for you to weave a 12X12” sample for your personal weaving notebook and reference library on each loom and then a full size scarf based off a lottery system. The goal is to maximize your exposure to different tie-ups and treadling sequences, providing you with a deeper understanding of how subtle changes can transform the texture and visual flow of a twill fabric. You will learn to recognize and execute the treadling required for each pattern, building a comprehensive portfolio of complex twill knowledge that you can immediately apply to future weaving projects. Come prepared to challenge your skills and leave with both practical woven items and invaluable structural weaving knowledge!
All materials are included with tuition.
