Don't let the name scare you, there is no need to dig out your old high school math notes on "fractals". Although it is a wonderful math theorem, one in which we can observe in we can nature, Sara will have the joy of introducing you to how fractals can be applied to our goals as a spinner. In this class Sara will introduce you to several approaches to achieve fractal yarns that will present themselves as what appear to be random, or well-intended broad casting of color, yet usher in a subtlety of patterns not quickly recognized by the viewer. Students will learn how to identify and purchase commercially dyed rovings that are suitable for this type of spinning, how to plan for dying for their own fiber and learn a few tips and tricks along the way.
