About Class
Date: March 13, 2027
Time: 10am- 4pm
Discover nalbinding, the ancient global craft that predates knitting and crocheting by thousands of years. Perfect for using up yarn scraps, this durable textile technique uses a single needle and short lengths of yarn pulled through individual stitches to create a beautiful, completely unravel-proof fabric.
In this hands-on workshop, you will craft a unique, multi-textured small sampler bag while traveling through textile history. You will begin your journey in the Stone Age by learning a seamless round start and mastering Simple Looping to form the base of your project. Next, you will advance through antiquity by adding texture to the body of your bag with Cross-knit Looping and Loop & Twist. Finally, you will step into the first millennium to tackle advanced compound structures like the Danish and Oslo/Lund stitches, which require interlacing your working thread with previous rows.
Throughout the session, you will gain essential technical skills, including structural increasing, tension control, and a variety of knotless methods for seamlessly splicing in new lengths of yarn. As your bag takes shape, you will explore historical textile artifacts and the vibrant global traditions that keep this rare craft alive today.
All materials included with tuition.
