About class
Date: October 28-30, 2026
Time: 9am- 4pm
Overshot is a weave structure that is in part is related to the Twill structure. In my mind, it's a Hybrid of Twill. On a closer look at Overshot drafts, they reveal the ascending and descending directions of Twill lines. The structure weaves with a tabby thread alternating with each Twill row, which makes this is a two-shuttle weave. One shuttle carries the Tabby thread while the second shuttle carries the Twill or pattern thread.
In this 3 day workshop, you will learn the basic fundamentals of how Overshot works. You'll also learn some tricks on how to best handle multiple shuttles and help to make a neat selvedge. Students will weave on pre-warped looms as you learn how to weave the patterns in Star Fashion and then how to change up the pattern by weaving it Rose Fashion. After becoming comfortable weaving the first two treadling's, you'll be shown a few Overshot treadling variations that weave into lovely patterned fabric. These will include Petit Point, Swivel, Italian Manner, Honeycomb and two lace weave variations.
All materials are included with tuition.
