Have you ever wanted to weave a cozy, full-width blanket but felt limited by the width of your loom? Double weave is the ultimate magic trick for weavers, allowing you to weave a fabric twice the width of your loom by utilizing two layers of cloth woven simultaneously. In this workshop, we take this fascinating technique a step further by introducing the rich history and striking geometry of traditional Tartan twills.

Students will learn how to manage two separate layers of warp, track complex color sequences, and successfully navigate the folded edge of a double-width fabric. You will leave this class with a beautiful, warm Tartan blanket and the confidence to double your loom's capacity for future projects. Say goodbye to narrow throws and hello to big, bold blankets!

Class Cancellations & Refunds

If bringing your own materials, Sara suggests any yarn that isn't too stretchy and would sett at 8-10 EPI.

If you're using a yarn that's 10 EPI, you'd need approximately 1200-1300yds for warp and 500yds for weft. If your yarn is 8 EPI, you can use approximately 1000yds for the warp and 400yds for the weft.

These are suggestions and we would recommend over compensating the yardage depending on how you want to arrange them, or what type of stripe pattern that you choose.
